Who We Are

Al Hanafiyya is an independent educational platform dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of Hanafi jurisprudence. We operate the website hanafiyya.com along with a community Discord server. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we look after it.

What We Collect

We collect information to support user account functionality, community features, and communications:

• Account & Authentication Information: When you sign up or log in on user-login.html or settings.html, we collect your email address and authentication credentials via Supabase (including email/password combinations or Google OAuth account details if you use Google Sign-In).
• User-Generated Content & Interactions: Content you voluntarily submit, including public comments posted on videos and video likes/dislikes (votes).
• Saved Preferences & Activity: Local or account-linked preferences including appearance choices (dark/light theme) and reading progress ("Continue Where You Left Off").
• Contact Submissions: Information provided through our contact form (your name, email address, message subject, and body).

How We Use Your Information

We use your information strictly to provide, maintain, and improve our platform features:

• To authenticate your identity, maintain active sessions, and secure your account.
• To attribute your public video comments and save your video votes (likes/dislikes).
• To restore your theme preference and resume your reading progress across visits.
• To respond to inquiries submitted through our contact form. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

Third-Party Services

We integrate specific third-party service providers to power platform functionality:

• Supabase: Handles user authentication, session management, and database storage for account data, video comments, and votes. Refer to Supabase's Privacy Policy.
• Google OAuth: Provides secure Google Sign-In authentication. Refer to Google's Privacy Policy.
• FormSubmit.co: Processes static contact form submissions and routes inquiries directly to our administrative email without permanent storage beyond delivery.
• Discord Inc.: Hosts our community server under Discord's Privacy Policy.

Data Retention

Account data, video votes, and public comments are retained for as long as your account remains active. Contact form emails are kept in our administrative inbox only as long as required to resolve your inquiry.

Note: If you request account deletion, your account credentials and personal profile information will be purged from our database. Posted public comments may either be deleted or anonymized upon request to preserve discussion context.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, edit, or request deletion of your account and personal data. You can manage your account settings on settings.html. To request complete removal of your account, comments, or contact history, email us at a@hanafiyya.com. Requests will be fulfilled promptly.

Children

Our platform is an educational resource open to all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal data, please contact us so we can promptly remove it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically to reflect platform additions or legal requirements. Revisions will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
